Mascot Sports Wins Top Honor at Running USA Industry Conference for 2019 Bay Bridge Half Marathon
Mascot Sports, a leader in one-of-a-kind endurance sports experiences, has won the first-ever Run Happy Pitch Fest Presented by Brooks at the 2019 Running USA Industry Conference in Puerto Rico. The award recognizes Mascot’s innovation around the Bay Bridge Half Marathon, which will take place on May 5, 2019.
“Mascot’s goal is to bring one-of-a-kind, immersive running experiences to athletes in the Bay Area and beyond,” said Mascot Sports VP of Events, Tim Cole. “It was an honor to present our plans for the inaugural Bay Bridge Half at the 2019 Running USA Conference and we’re extremely excited to be recognized by Brooks and Nuun as the winners of the first-ever Run Happy Pitch Fest.”
“Mascot Sports shared a compelling pitch for the Bay Bridge Half that was unique and premium, and their vision for engaging runners aligned nicely with our strategy and values at Brooks,” said Stevie Jones, Brooks Running Company Events Marketing Manager. “All three of the Run Happy Pitch Fest finalists presented exceptional event plans, and we’re excited to see their races come to life for runners across the country in the future.”
The Bay Bridge Half will make history on May 5, 2019 as the first-ever half marathon to cross the Bay Bridge. The race will be limited to 1,500 runners to give athletes a highly premium, locally curated experience with partners including Oaklandish, Old Kan Beer, Calavera, the Oakland Athletics, top local chefs and more.
Adding to the innovative nature of the event, more than 50 percent of the route will keep runners above the San Francisco Bay and companies like NUUN and HydraPak will be on site to keep runners hydrated for an environmentally friendly, zero-waste 13.1 miles.
“Mascot Sports commitment to minimizing their event’s impact on the planet is both setting the industry bar, while creating positive change,” added Kevin Rutherford, Nuun President and CEO. “Nuun is honored to provide optimal hydration for performance while spreading the message on cleaning up our planet.”
